The Neo Cathay World Elite Mastercard Secured is basically the same as the Neo Cathay World Elite Mastercard, the only real difference is that you’ll have guaranteed approval for the Neo Cathay World Elite Mastercard Secured if you place a security deposit of at least $200 to open an account – no credit history required.
Overall, this makes the Neo Cathay World Elite Mastercard Secured more accessible to those with either a poor or non-extensive credit history (you’ll still need to meet those high income requirements though!).

Once you’ve touched-down into your desired destination, you can even use Asia Miles to cover the cost of your accommodations.
Participating accommodation partners and booking platforms include:
To secure an eligible booking, head to the Asia Miles travel rewards redemption site and select the “Hotels” tab.
Need a way to travel from the airport to your hotel? Or perhaps even from the hotel to every item on your trip itinerary? This is where rental car redemptions come in handy.
Thankfully, you can take your Asia Miles and turn them into temporary transportation.
Participating rental car companies include:
To arrange your rental, revisit the Asia Miles travel rewards redemption site and select the “Cars” tab instead.
Beyond flights, accommodations, and rental cars, you may also want to use your Asia Miles for some exclusive experiences.
Browse the Asia Miles rewards website’s catalogue of concerts and entertainment to check out which events you can redeem Asia Miles towards – either in full or split with cash.
Expect opportunities like:
Once you see something you like, sign in to add the experience to your cart and proceed to checkout.
On top of experiences, you can also trade miles for something a little more tangible.
Explore other categories within the Asia Miles catalogue like:
Each category unlocks tons of products that you can pay for using Asia Miles instead of hard-earned money.
The exact cent-per-point value of your purchase will also depend on the product you're looking to redeem points towards.
To calculate your miles-per-point value on a specific product, simply divide the value of the product by the amount of miles required for the redemption, then multiply that result by 100.
Note that this same equation can be applied to any redemption category, allowing you to pin-point your reward value beyond estimated averages.
Looking to give back? If you scroll down near the bottom of the Air Miles rewards categories, you’ll find a charity section. Select this section to open up an entire catalogue of participating charitable organizations that will gladly accept a specified amount of Asia Miles for a meaningful contribution to their cause or causes.
Featured organizations include:
Simply sign into your Asia Miles account to add a cause to your cart and proceed to checkout.
Based on the main redemption table, the best way to optimize your Asia Miles is to put them towards travel – specifically eligible flights.
That said, you can still accumulate decent value in other travel-redemption categories like accommodations and car rentals.
From time to time, you can even trade Asia Miles for other experiences, products, and donations – just don’t expect the same value on average.
If you’re a frequent flyer, especially to destinations within Asia, then Asia Miles will be the most worthwhile to your spending and travelling habits.
Since you’ll also need to meet the hefty annual income requirements of the top two Cathay credit cards in Canada, you also may want to be a particularly high-earner.
Technically, there's an annual income loophole when it comes to collecting Asia Miles. If you don't meet the annual income requirements of the Neo Cathay cards, you can also apply for eligible RBC Avion or American Express credit cards that allow you to transfer their respective rewards points to Asia Miles.
This type of transfer is most valuable with RBC Avion, since transfers can be made at a 1:1 ratio. Slightly lower annual income cards are also available with decent transferable reward rates, like the RBC Avion Visa Infinite Card. Alternatively, for no annual income requirement (but a lower flat-rate of transferable point-potential) you can take a look at the RBC Avion Visa Platinum Card.
The transfer rate for American Express Membership Rewards to Asia Miles is less than 1:1. For every 1,000 Membership Rewards points, you'll only receive 750 Asia Miles. Still, there are plenty of Amex cards that have lucrative point-potential, like the American Express Cobalt Card. As long as you don't mind spending a little more on an annual fee, you can avoid annual income requirements with this card and collect plenty of transferable points on common spend categories to help balance out the point-transfer rate.
